Our SOT Specialists

Sacro Occipital Technique was developed by Dr. DeJarnette, who was both a chiropractor and an osteopath. His training in these two disciplines allowed him to develop a systematic approach to the evaluation and treatment of neurological, structural and functional interferences in the body - whether from cranial, organ, nutritional, or structural causes. SOT is a wonderful technique for us lifelong learners, as Dr. DeJarnette generated over 135 volumes of information and research. SOT gives us the why, and not just the what in chiropractic care.

For those that don't like "the popping", SOT includes osseous (popping) and non-osseous (non-popping) options for the spine and pelvis. For example, pelvic blocks can be placed to close hypermobile sacroiliac joints, as is common in pregnancy. This procedure can also create a round open pelvic basin for safe and easy passage during birth. SOT also offers excellent non-osseous techniques for the treatment and resolution of disc related disorders. Non-osseous cervical stair step technique is a great option for whiplash treatment, and cervical hypermobility.

These gentle techniques can also be more comfortable for children. And we LOVE helping children. Consider the quote "a crooked twig grows to be a bent and burdened tree". When I see my bent and burdened adults, I think "if only they had corrected this problem when just a twig".

Craniopathy is another discipline of SOT. It's origin is osteopathic and includes the treatment of CSF circulation, craniosacral respiratory function,TMJ disorders, head injuries, birth trauma, sinus sufferers, cranial asymmetry, cranial nerve function, headaches, and all things cranial! SOT craniopathy is not the same as CranioSacral Therapy (CST). CST is a fabulous technique, however, SOT Craniopathy is more extensive and more specific than CST. While CST is taught to anyone able to purchase the seminar training, SOT's craniopathy training is extensive, including cranial dissection, and is offered only to doctors. If you have had limited results with CST, then SOT Craniopathy is a good next step for you!

Chiropractic Manipulative Reflex Techniques (CMRT) involves the logical manipulation of the organs of the body and the nerves and reflexes that influence them. As only one example, if the skin of your abdomen were transparent and you could see the abdominal contents, you would realize that the ileocecal valve is only a couple of inches away and just a little manual guidance in the right direction can open or close the ICV. An open ICV can let the contents through too fast (diarrhea) or too slow (constipation). Easy peasy! In the same manner, a hiatal hernia can simply be pulled down manually. Every organ can benefit from better structural and neurological support!

More Than the Basics

"Since 1985, I have been obsessed with all aspects of anatomy and physiology, seeking to fully understand the depths of a variety of chiropractic techniques for more than just back, neck and disc pain, but also for extremities, organs, infants, children, cranial, TMJ, myofascia and the dural meningeal mechanism. My desire to provide alternative health care options has led me to integrate homeopathy, nutrition, and a great variety of lab testing (Functional Medicine) into my practice."

Infant Cranial

I have decades of experience ensuring the tiniest of my patients grow up with excellent whole-body wellness including cranial health.

Infant Cranial requires specific post graduate training above and beyond a doctorate in Chiropractic. It is more than a few weekend seminars; it takes years to truly understand and master.

I use SacroOccipital Technique which is not the same as CranioSacral Technique. Although CST is valuable, SOT is taught only to doctors and is much more in depth than CST. SOT infant cranial is a wonderful option to the Cranial Bands/Helmets.

SOT Specialist

SacroOccipital Technique was developed by Dr. DeJarnette - a chiropractor and osteopath. He married both disciplines into this one extensive technique.

Adding this technique to traditional chiropractic techniques allows me to offer "non-popping" options for those that do better with that option

Having had a long and varied history of working with homeopaths I feel happy to write about my experience using Stephanie for my homeopathic needs.

Stephanie is good at what she does. She listens, remembers, and connects. She asks the right questions which makes it so much easier on the client.

Stephanie has a deep knowledge and understanding of homeopathy and coupled with the ease of scheduling and her great listening skills makes her a smart choice for leading you to better health through homeopathy.

Dr. Stephanie is a dedicated, caring , thoughtful, thorough, and gifted homeopathic practitioner.

When she took on my husband's extremely complex case (dealing with Traumatic brain injury, chronic pain, diabetes, hypertension, and emotional traumas), she patiently listened to all of the details and carefully considered all of the factors before determining a course of action.

We were not "left alone until the next appointment" because Dr Stephanie followed up to see how things were going to help us make the necessary corrections when my husband misunderstood the homeopathic instructions.

It was amazing to begin to see the little changes take place in my husband as he followed the protocol. Dr. Stephanie was encouraging as she told him to give the remedy time to work. So far we are seeing steady changes in a positive direction.

What I love most about Dr. Stephanie, is that she is understanding and relies on Jesus. It was such a blessing to me when she offered to pray for me during our phone conversation.

Outstanding chiropractor! Dr. Keila has treated me and my family for almost thirteen years and we all love her. With her thorough adjustments and guidance, my health has greatly improved.

Many times when I have gone in for an adjustment for one issue, she identified and adjusted other areas that I had just “lived with”. She is kindhearted and deeply cares about all of her patients.

Her vast knowledge of the human body and how it works is incredible and she is a blessing to all of us. I always look forward to her adjustments knowing I will feel so much better when I leave her office.

I cannot imagine what our quality of life would be like without Dr. Keila!
